Hainan
Hainan is an island province at the southernmost part of China, just across the Gulf of Tonkin from Vietnam. "Hainan" literally means "South of the Ocean" and is made up of approximately 200 islands. Located in the South China Sea, south of China Mainland, Hainan Province is Hainan is a visitor paradise, especailly for winter vacation.
Hainan Island, as virgin tourist attraction, has greenery land, tropical climate, beautiful sunny beaches and fresh air. The aboriginal Li, Miao and Zhuang Minorities give ethnic or folk atmosphere around the island. Their unique culture and traditions are a favorite part of any visit to Hainan. They are believed to be the direct descendents of the original settlers of the island more than 3,000 years ago. Hainan acquired an air of mystery and romance since it Hainan was once considered a backward place serving as a place of exile for failed officials and criminals on the fringe of the Chinese cultural sphere.
Hainan's climate is tropical, characterised by hot and humid summers, with mild, pleasant winters. Temperatures usually range from 24-35°C in the summer, and 19-25°C in the winter. Hainan is abundant in seafood, rice, coconuts, pineapples, coffee, tea, cashews, rubber and sugarcane. These year, its cities such as Sanya, Boao, Wenchang, Haikou have been much-visited by young tourists and they praise Hainan as: "a wonderful honeymoon resort" and "a vacationland in heaven".
Today, it is undergoing heavy tourist-oriented development with various international hotel chains establishing resorts, especially in the Sanya area. These days, many wealthy Chinese from the northern provinces own second homes in Hainan, where they move to in the winter to escape the bitter cold that characterises much of northern China. It has been popular with Russian tourists for decades. Now it is being promoted as "China's Hawaii". The entire island has been declared a Special Economic Zone.
Yalong Bay
Arguably one of the most beautiful parts of China’s Hainan Island, Yalong Bay is a 7.5 kilometer long crescent-shaped bay. The bay boasts white sand beaches, clear blue water, rolling hills, and beautiful vegetation.
Dadonghai Bay
Hainan Island, south of the Chinese mainland is famous for its white sand beaches, balmy weather, and clear skies. The most popular seaside area in all of Hainan has to be Dadonghai.
Dongzhai Harbor Mangrove Natural Reserve
The first and largest mangrove reserve in China, the Dongzhai Harbor Mangrove Natural Reserve is located northeast of Hainan Island’s Haikou City. It is a tropical jungle which occupies an area of over 3337.6 hectares.
Sanya Bay
Located west of Sanya City, Sanya Bei is a 6.2 mile bay surrounded by tropical greenery. The white sand beaches are lapped by the clear blue sea and two tropical islands can be seen out in the ocean. It is one of the most picturesque beaches in China.
Wuzhizhou Island
Wuzhizhou Island is located off the coast of China’s Hainan Island. The island is a favorite destination for higher-end visitors to China. The island is home to wonderful natural beauty and has tourism facilities for a large variety of sea and land activities.
Holiday Beach
Lying west of Haikou City in China’s Hainan Island, Holiday beach is a favorite for water sports enthusiasts. The six kilometer long beach has a wonderful climate with an average temperature of 75 degrees.
Tianya Haijiao
Located west of Sanya City in China’s Hainan Island, Tianya Haijiao is a beautiful scenic spot. Its natural beauty makes it a romantic destination and it attracts thousands of lovers for weddings. Tianya Haijiao is located on Maling Mountain, facing the sea.
Wugong Temple
Located 5 kilometers from Haikou City in China’s Hainan Island, Wugong Temple was originally built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It has been renovated several times and the current architecture was built in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
Nanshan Temple
Nanshan Temple, located 40 kilometers from Sanya City in Hainan Province is the largest Buddhist preaching site established since the 1949 founding of The People’s Republic of China. Located at the foot of Nanshan Mountain, the temple complex was completed in 1998.
Yinggeling Nature Reserve
Yinggeling Nature Reserve in China’s Hainan Province, is an incredible site for those interested in nature. Due to its remoteness and inaccessibility, the reserve has been virtually undisturbed for centuries.
Stone Park
Stone Park located in China’s Hainan Island is an incredible place. The park is located on the shore and is dotted with huge boulders. The huge water-smoothed boulders make the area seem other-worldly. It is a favorite place to explore for families and people of all ages.

Since Haikou is the commercial center of Hainan Province, it also has the best shopping areas. It has something for everyone including; traditional arts and crafts, name brand boutiques, artwork, pearls, and souvenirs.
Things To Do in Hainan
Hainan Island, located in the South China Sea is a fantastic Destination. It is filled with wonderful sand beaches, incredible seafood and unique sites and people. It’s two main cities are Haikou, the capital of Hainan, and Sanya. These are the most popular cities with visitors and have the most to offer.
Hainan Weather
Pingyao is located in a temperate continental semiarid climate. The summer is rainy and very hot, while the winter is cold and windy. Spring temperatures vary greatly between day and night and the autumn temperatures slowly fall and become cool.
