Hainan is known throughout China for its pearl production. It offers both freshwater and saltwater pearls, with the seawater being the more famous of the two. To ensure you are getting authentic pearls, it is important to purchase pearls in a larger jewelry store.

Li Brocade, made by the Li Ethnic Minority Group is China’s oldest cotton textile. Unique pictures and designs are sewn into the brocade and are made into a large variety of items. Coral is also widely available and is quite beautiful, but it is illegal to purchase or export, so we highly recommend that you avoid purchasing any coral products.

Seashells are a popular item with visitors. Hainan, being an island has a huge selection of seashells available and many of them are unique and make fantastic gifts.
