Hi Alina!  We successfully made it through the tour and returned one week ago.  Fortunately, everything went well. Days were very long from 8 am in the morning til late in the evening in Xinjiang almost daily.  We walked anywhere from 2 to 4 miles per day, with a lot of the walking up stairs at many of the sites during the trip. The weather in Turpan reached 106 on one of the days there.

The group was very compatible and the trip went very well.  Thank you for all that you did to put this together for us.  I appreciate your flexibility and willingness to make changes to accommodate some of our requests.  I didn’t expect that you would be involved when my husband left his partial denture in one of the hotels; thank you for having it sent to Beijing.

Although many of the group were seniors, we were able to endure the rigors of the trip and enjoyed seeing so many historical sites along the China Silk Road.  The progress has been amazing since my last trip there about 25 years ago.  Kashgar at that time was not a city at all.

This trip will be a very memorable one as we look back at the pictures we have taken.  Lots of culture and history to learn here.

Just want to give you some of my feedbacks on the tour for your future reference.
 
Overall, the trip was wonderful. I found most of the tour guides were very professional, I was particularly impressed with the ones in Kashgar and Dunhuang (Abdu and Jackie respectively) – I found their English skill is very proficient and shows tremendous interest and enthusiasm in sharing their knowledge. I really enjoyed their accompanies, please do make a note on their great services and let their local agencies be aware of their great works!
 
There was one incident I wish to share with you, so you and your local agency would be aware of the situation. When I was in Lijiang, the tour guide seems to be not so enogh courtesy or prefessional in some details. None of my business, but just seemed very odd when no other guides did so. I don't mean to make troubles for anyone, as everybody is just trying to make a living. But I feel that you need to know about these incidents.

Alina,It's good to hear from you again.

On the whole we have a good trip and all members are thankful for the experience.  We visited a lot of interesting places. And extensive use of high speed trains make travelling comfortable and enjoyable.

I would, however, suggest the following improvements:

1) Better hotel in Xining. Quality of service in that hotel was very good, but the bathroom was not so good.

2) Dinner on first night in Dunhuang was bland tastes and poor choices of dishes.

Other than these unpleasant encounters, the trip was a great trip, and many team members said they will highly recommend your agency to friends who are interested in travelling in China.

I wanted to share some feedback about our trip this weekend with Anna in Harbin.

Anna was enthusiastic and nice to work with. She sometimes seemed overwhelmed with 17 of us (hard to keep 17 people walking her speed) but she did fine.

The first stop on the tour (Central Street and the river) was too long. Most of us found we could have spent about 1/2 the time there we did.

The tiger park was fine.

The meal was the real problem. While the food was pretty good, it wasn't as expected, the restaurant's enviroment and service was not up to our expectation.

We had enough time at the Sculpture World and the Ice Park and the tour went for 1-2 hours.

That said, overall, it was a good tour. We are all living in China and know that expectations for tours and travel is different than we are used to in the US, so I don't think we had unreasonable expectations.

Thank you for helping us has this once in a lifetime experience.

To give you feedback on our Harbin Tour. Our guide, Nizi, was very good and very caring which we truly appreciated. She really went out of her way with everything. I shall give you some examples:

Firstly, it was so extremely cold; she brought us face covers, and ear muffs. And on a day when it was foggy from pollution, she brought us 3M face masks. She shared snacks with us on the van during travel. She also brought me a pair of gloves and snipped off 2 fingers so I could use my handphone easily without taking off my glove. 

Before we went outdoors, she made sure we were all zipped up and covered properly. 

She rearranged our tour, with our consent so we had a better flow and more even time as the arrangement on day 4 was too hectic. So we went to the ice festival and the Siberian tiger park on the first day which was much better. 

She helped us pay cash for hotel deposit, attractions such as cable car as we were shocked to find that credit cards were not accepted anywhere, even at the hotel! I would strongly suggest that you inform all visitors in advance of travel that credit cards are not accepted in Harbin and give an estimation of cash required for meals, attractions etc. It was a surprise to us as this is the first place I've travelled to with no credit card acceptance.

At meal times, she gave good recommendations of restaurants and would always recommend that we do not over order.

She also brought us her own toboggan when we went to the snows, so we did not have to rent one. She also recommended that we ski at Volga Manor which was a third of the price at Yabuli, which was a good recommendation as we are beginners. 

So we found that she was very genuine, unlike many chinese guides we have been with who want to make money out of you. 

The driver was also very good, no complains, always there and Nizi coordinated with him very well. 

If there was any improvement on the guide, it would be her English proficiency which she told us she is trying to improve.  

With the pick up in Beijing airport, the driver waited at the wrong gate. Although we had clearly advised the arrival and airline. I think in future, you should provide client contact number and driver contact number. Thank goodness you answered your phone very late at night.

And the Beijing tours all went very well, tour guide English and explanations were excellent. We just got anxious as pick up messages were left quite late in the evening. SImilarly, contact number should be given so we can contact appropriately. 

All in all, we had a great time. I hope you will share my comments with Nizi's tour company so she can be aware that what she has done has been warmly appreciated, which is so important for foreigners in a different country.

We enjoyed or day with Phoebe very much. She was friendly and knowledgeable and explained everything. Also, the driver was doing a good job, always in time and a safe and relaxed driving. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you with the feedback.Anyway these are my comments.

1. Overall the tour and the places we saw was very good and worthwhile.

2. Transporation and Drivers were all very good especially in Kashgar.

3. Guides:-A)Xian -The guide was  Mr Noble was a very very nice person-However his English was not so good and it was hard to understand him sometimes-He has only one year experience as a guide and his knowledge was limited.My recommendation to your company is that since we paid you for a private tour at a premium price customers like me deserve a much more fluent and experienced guide.

B) Duanghong-Female guide I do not remember her name-She was experienced and spoke fairly good English-but I think she is lazy -for example we go on the camel ride and we do not speak chinese
we do not understand what the camel man says as she says she cannot come with us.On the last day she takes us to train station-The Train leaves at 12.00pm -midnight-she wants to leave me and my wife in this small station again at 10.00pm -Again I request her she cannot go as we do not speak Chinese so she stayed.You can judge for yourself on this issue.

C) Turpan-No complaints at all Guide was experienced and spoke good English and took good care of us.I was very pleased with him.

D) Kashgar-Guide was nice and spoke well and took good care -so no complaints here either.

4. FOOD:-In Xian and Duanhong we were very disappointed with the lunches provided-As I mentioned we are taking private tour with your company and paying top price -we should be provided with much better lunch and service at proper restaurants-instead you are taking us to all the restaurants where all the tour buses go and the food is cold and bad and all the time same vegetables and sweet and sour pork-Terrible.

I suggest to your company that in future when you have private tours you should provide food-good food at proper restaurant not tour bus food-believe me all your customers will be very happy.

In Turpan and Kashgar I was very happy with the food because here they took us to private restaurant and we could order what we want-thats the way it should be after all just 2 people how much can we eat really?

5. Hotels-All the hotels were very good-No Complaints at all.

Thank you for your good service-Make some changes you will improve much better.I have already recomended your company to some friends and I think they are interested in the same tour as mine.

Since you are based in Guilin I am also interested in coming there later on this year.

thanks for your email. Yes it is now a week ago we came back from our adventourous trip to the silkraod.
Thanks oyu very much again for organising everything so well.
Everything was well prepared and we really could relay on Mr Aman the tour guide and the driver Mr Ali.
You choose nice hotels we had very good service and enjoyed our stays there.
The only hotel we wouldn´t recommend to book again was the one in Taxkorgan "Kashgar Tianyuan International Hotel". It didn´t seem to finished and therefore not well prepared. It was also a little bit far away from the city center. But nevertheless everything was ok and for one night it was ok...not the best one but ok.

Thank you for your mail.  First of all, I would like to congratulate you with the smooth organization of the tour, everything went smoothly according to planning.  I can imagine this is not an easy task to organize from Guilin, considering the distance and complexity of the trip we made.  I also appreciate your flexibility in putting together the program entirely according to our desires.
 
For the different parts of the trip:
- Xian: we had a good balance between the scheduled sights and free time to spend.  The location of the hotel was good, so it was possible to go to the center by ourselves.  One remark, we were transferred to the train station at 6am for a train leaving at 8am.  The station was less than 15 minutes away  from the hotel.  We should have had 45 minutes more to take breakfast (which was served from 6:00am on) rather than having to take a package from the hotel.  I understand you do not want to take any risk of missing the train, but 2 hours seems to be a bit too much…

- Tianshui to Lanzhou: our guide managed very well to reschedule the visits a bit, putting all visits in Labrang and Bingling Si in the same day.  This way we had no negative impact from the traffic accidents we saw on the way, which blocked to road for some time.  Lanzhou is a very difficult city to drive into.  Maybe a hotel in another city would have been better?  We spent a nice morning in Lanzhou visiting the hillside pagoda, but unfortunately the museum was closed so we ended up in the railway station again 2 hours before departure…  In Xiahe, the grasslands were not very interesting (probably due to the season).  Maybe there would have been more interest to visit another monastery or temple in Xiahe or in the neighborhood.
- Jiayuguan – Dunhuang:  nice schedule, the addition of the Yulin grottoes was a very good idea from your part, even if we had to wait for over one hour before they opened (and it was very cold).  After the visit to the Mogao caves, we left to the railway station quite early, again having to wait for over 2 hours in the station before  the train left.  Given the site of the railway, a flight to Turpan could have been a better alternative maybe?

- Turpan-Urumqi: this was the only part where the guide service was disappointing.  The general attitude of the guide was one of obvious disinterest for his guests, as he was spending more time looking at his cellphone than looking at us.   We only started visiting in the afternoon of the first day in Turpan and then had very little time, especially at the Gaochang site.  The attitude of the local staff with the electric carts was quite impolite.  We would strongly have preferred to go around by bicycle to explore this nice site.  We especially enjoyed the marvelous landscape around Bezeklik and the flaming mountains.  Maybe a more extended programme around Turpan would have been better.  The hotel in Urumqi gave the real “end of China” experience on the silk road, as did the Grand bazaar, we really felt like being in central asia.
- Yinchuan: our guide there was really very good, caring and very attentive to his clients.  We really appreciated the rock carvings and Western Xia tombs site, they are really worth while.  The 108 pagodas were nice, but the long trip to Shapotou was not so interesting.  As we had already seen the sand desert scene in Dunhuang, this was not worth the long journey.  Maybe a site closer to Yinchuan (like the Ming great wall) would have been a better suggestion.
 
Overall, it was a very good trip and we really had a comprehensive Silk Road experience.  As it was a great journey, it is clear that some travel efforts are inevitable in such trip.  I will certainly recommend your services to other people and contact you again if I plan another holiday in China.

Thank you for arranging such an exciting and comprehensive itinerary where everything went so smoothly and according to plan. We really loved Harbin- it is a most fascinating city, interesting, so very clean and is so beautiful covered in snow & ice. We enjoyed every part of our stay there - the ice & snow sculptures, the tigers etc - we found Volga Manor quite spectacular. Even the weather was perfect - very cold but blue skies & lovely sunshine. Our Tour Guide Anna was absolutely wonderful - we could not have wished for a more delightful, charming and very well organized young lady to escort us. She looked after our every need, was so helpful, friendly & happy and always on time. She showed great patience when we wanted more time at a particular place, supported us when the path was slippery and helped us in every way possible. Anna insisted on taking us for different restaurant experiences at every meal, helped us order food we liked & made sure we were well looked after. We found the places & quality of the food excellent. Many of the restaurants were not the usual tourist type places so she gave us a really authentic experience. It was so very sad to say goodbye to her. Equally our driver Mr Chen (I think that is how we spell his name) was just the most thoughtful, polite & kind person. He always waited very patiently for me to take my endless photos, helped us get into our warm coats, opened the car doors for us & looked after us so well. His driving was excellent - he is a very safe driver and a really nice person who made sure the car was always warm for us to return to and where possible drove to meet us so we didn't have to spend any more time out in the cold than was absolutely necessary. Could you please pass on to Anna and Mr Chen & those responsible for choosing them our sincere thanks for the excellent way they looked after us right from the first minute we arrived until we departed. So Judith we can't thank you enough for all your help & for organizing such a wonderful trip for us. We have been travelling for over 40 years now and this trip to Harbin is definitely one of the most memorable trips we have ever had. We will certainly be in contact with you when we want to return to China again. Meanwhile once again thank you and our very best wishes to you.

The tour is fine and we really enjoy.

The Bama Phoenix Hotel should have wifi in the room as wifi is so important and have to come down to lobby to do my work.

Hotels in China should ban smoking as it is very irritating to non-smokers and some could not take the smell of the cigarettes.

Public toilets should be upgraded especially in the countryside and those in the petrol stations.

Other than that, everything is fine.

I am very well, thank you. What a trip, what an incredible experience! I have enjoyed every minute in Yunnan and now I am waking up from a dream!

I am happy to give you a short day to day account. 

Met Sunny at Kunming Airport. No problem. She suggested to see  SPLENDID YUNNAN and we drove directly to the show with only one minute to spare. Superb show. NEW ERA HOTEL was very good. Next day drive to Dali, meet Celine. We found her to be a little "flaky", nice enough and knowledgeable but somehow not too helpful. I mean...personally not helpful ( I am 75).

Dali LANDSCAPE Hotel  was good but very noisy in the night time. Lunch in old town was very good, nice restaurant and convenient.

Next day Shaxi....out of this world. LAOMADIAN hotel very cute, good food (dinner), manager was very helpful. Next day sightseeing was extra ordinary. BAOXIANG TEMPLE is a long way up the hill, but even for me doable.  The temple person "in charge" invited us for lunch. We enjoyed that very much. We went on to see another temple, I forget the name. Was also a memorable experience. Celine speaks English well and knows all facts like history etc. Our driver, Mr. CHANG is an excellent driver, drove very savely. But he was not very helpful either. By that I mean... he seldom opened the car door for me, seldom helped me in and out of the car or helped to manage our luggage.(MAYBE HE WAS NEVER TOLD).

We met the next guide on the way to Shangri la. A delightful young Tibetan lady, Betsy. 

She was very attentive, gave me a hand climbing up and down the LEAPING TIGER GORGE. Also knowledgable, spoke English well and lots of fun. She helped us, looked after us, told us personal stories, showed us around. She had discount tickets to Tibetan show if we were interested. A lovely visit to the old town, then again a nice evening and  a wonderful next day in Shangri la. The ZINK JOURNEY Hotel was the best. We really loved it. Nice staff too. Monastery visit was impressive but the TIBETAN FAMILY VISIT was totally disapointing. No family, just an old house!

My companion Grace and I drove down to Lijiang only with driver. Because she speaks Chinese fluently we had no problem. A small disappoitment was the FIRST BEND YANGTZE  River attraction. Too far and not much to see!

We met our Lijiang guide in Lijiang. Sookie is also delightful in all ways and we enjoyed her. All activities in Lijiang were  interesting and enjoyable,  we have seen many wonderful sights. Good lunch in small, lovely town. Hotel in Lijiang was OK, not very friendly but good location.

The flight to Kunming was delayed due to bad weather conditions and we arrived in Kunming after midnight. Sunny was waiting for us. She is also a wonderful guide, we liked her but unfortunately had no time to see Kunming with her.

Two things I suggest you look into.....

The FAMILY VISIT IN SHANGRI LA   and   FIRST BEND OF YANGZTE RIVER.

We had a very enjoyable holiday in China and saw a lot of very interesting places. It really was a journey of life time in a part of China that not everybody gets the opportunity to see. We travelled by car, bus , overnight train, motorbike, camel and horse ! - so it was a bit of an adventure.  We saw deserts in Gansu and Alpine pastures in Yunan and the grasslands of the Tibetan Plateau. We saw some amazing sights and scenery.  It was all very memorable.

You organized our trip very well - and everything worked like clockwork. The appointed guide was there to meet us at each stop be it an Airport or Railway station. The hotels varied -  some were excellent some not so good like the one at Labrang  (Labulang Civil Aviation Hotel).

The guides were generally very good good - Noor ( Urumqi), Peter (Lanzhou/Xiahe) and Thup Ten (Shangri La) were particularly excellent and outstanding.

Overall it was a great experience and we would recommend others to use your company and we too would use your company again.

What you promised - you delivered and everything worked very smoothly.

I will definitely recommend you, Michael our tour guide and Access China Travel to my friends.

Our guide and driver were amazing. I would recommend them to anyone when traveling to Chengdu. We had a great time and we are sad to say goodbye. When we return to Chengdu we hope to use them again.

Our time in Harbin was good though we were too rushed on the last day. We did’t have enough time for snow Expo or tiger park. Overall good driver and guide was very good and friendly.

Excellent 3 days. Really enjoy it.

We had a great time on our vacation. We were extremely pleased with the two tour guides, David and Franky. We also loved the hotels in Beijing. We loved all the tours, as well. The Great Wall, the Ice and Snow Festival, the Tiger Park, and the Skiing trip were all highlights.

The only thing we were not pleased with was the Sofitel hotel in Harbin. The room was not a 5 star room, despite being labeled 5 star. I expected a large circular tub and the amenities listed on the website like the bidet.

Anyway, despite this small frustration we had a GREAT time!

Thank you for organizing everything for us. The flights were perfect, which made the trip quite convenient. The Beijing Hilton Capital Hotel was the perfect way to end the trip--it was fantastic!

We will remember the trip always.

My wife and I just returned from a trip to Beijing, Xian, Shanghai,Suzhou, Hangzhou,Guilin, Yangshuo, Hong Kong organized by Access China Travel. Everything went very smoothly. We really liked our tour guides, particularly Emily in Guilin/Yangshuo. She was very patient, friendly and knowledgeable. She told us many beatuiful legends in Guilin.

We went to China in June and it was indeed a fantastic tour. I can say we have found China beyond our expectations. Guilin is a paradise and no tour will be complete without a visit to this friendly and beautiful city, a mixture of tradition and modern times. I took many beautiful photos and they will be my forever memory in Guilin.

The highlight of this part of the trip was the Li River cruise. The sights were amazing despite the little bit of rain we encountered. Our tour guide was the best- Ben. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and didn't make us feel rushed for anything. He made sure i took a lot of memorable pictures. He gave us a great recommendation for a restaurant on west street.

My wife and I enjoyed our China trip organized by Access China Travel - Judith and I planned the entire trip and it was great ! In Guilin we had a cruise down the Li River, beautiful, scenic ride. Our guide David was very helpful and friendly. Our accommodation in Guilin and Yangshuo was comfortable. Got some great pictures ! The show in Yanhshuo was ok !
The visit to the Reed Flute Cave was the highlight of the day. Thanks to David and his driver.
We also covered Shanghai - Barbara was our guide there - friendly & courteous;
Our last leg was Beijing - the palaces, tombs, great wall... lot to see. Our guide was Amanda - she was good ! She took us to some restaurants where the food was excellent.
Guides spoke good English, the drivers were courteous and the whole team made the trip enjoyable and memorable.

John is an excellent tour guide who took us around and even biked with us. He is one of the best tour guides we had in China. He spoke excellent English and extremely knowledgeable.
We recommend biking in Yangshuo.

There was a great sense of excitement when we boarded the Yangtze river cruise late afternoon, with drums and dancers. The dock lights at Chongqing are gorgeous. Our cabin, with en suite, was very comfortable and included a TV which showed movies. We had an embarkation briefing with the cruise manager straight away so we quickly learnt our way around.

My husband and I have just returned from a two week trip to China. I found the agents extremely attentive before, during and after the trip. They saved me from getting my visa too early and made arrangements for us to take the train from Beijing to Pingyao. The guides and drivers spoke excellent English and were most helpful.

Access China Travel, Professional Travel Assistance! Guilin is a charming small city. We did a cycling across Yangshuo countryside.It was interesting.

Had the best time in China, especially for Guilin and on the Yangtze cruise.It was not the first time I had been on a cruise but this cruise is excellent and the Chinese food is great.We had a great time in a little cafe on the West Street in Yangshuo. Access China Travel did an excellent job of organising our trip.

Had a great time. Many many xie xie!! Our guide Yoshi was very helpful and a real gentleman always helping me in and out of the car and with the wheelchair and always trying to adapt to our wishes. Mr. Tang, our driver, was a good chauffeur and help with the wheelchair and also tried to make traveling in Beijing easy for us.

I just want to let you know that I came back to New York City safely from China. I want to thank you so much for a great tour around China, especially in Beijing, Suzhou and Guilin.
