Huashan Mountain:
Located in China's Shaanxi Province, 100 kilometers east of Xian, Huashan Mountain is one of China's five sacred Taoist mountains. The mountain is famous for its beauty, legends, temples, and the danger of its paths. The mountain has had a Taoist Temple on it as early as the 2nd century BC. It is believed by Taoists that a god of the underworld lives in the mountain and spirit mediums come to mountain to contact the god. The mountain has been a place of pilgrimage for centuries. There are still a number of temples on and around Huashan Mountain. There are three ways up the mountain, with the oldest being the most popular. It is 6 kilometers long and is famous for its danger. In many places, the path is simply a row of planks nailed into the side of the mountain. There are also cable cars and safe paths for the less adventurous.
Kunlun Mountains:
One of the longest mountain chains in Asia, the Kunlun Mountains stretch more than 3,000 kilometers. It runs from Tajikistan east to Qinghai Province. The mountains are believed by Taoists to be a Taoist paradise. Another claim to fame for the Kunlun Mountains in China is the different sects of martial arts which originated there. They are all various forms of Daoist martial arts.

Yellow Mountain:
Known for its incredible beauty, unique flora and fauna, and as being the source of inspiration for many ancient Chinese paintings, Huangshan is located in China's Anhui Province. Huangshan Mountain is comprised of many peaks, and each has its own unique story and name. The mountain is covered with twisted ancient pines and bizarre rock formations which add to the appeal of the mountain. Many of the trees are extremely old and due to the lack of soil, and constant winds, they have taken on twisted shapes. The mountain is often shrouded in the clouds. The clouds can obscure views of the mountains, but they disappear with a puff of wind which causes the clouds to open up like curtains upon an incredible stage.
Changbai Mountain:
Located on the border between China and Korea, Changbai Mountain is the mythical birthplace of the ancestor of the Qing Dynasty Imperial Family lineage. The Koreans consider it a sacred mountain and the ancestral origin of all Koreans. A variety of ginseng, as well as many rare animals thrives on the Changbai Mountain. Due to the altitude of the mountain, there are several different vegetation zones on the mountain. Taishan Mountain:
Considered as the leader of China's five sacred Taoist mountains, Taishan is perhaps China's most famous mountain. Located in China's Shandong Province, Taishan has been visited by emperors and commoners for millennia. It is believed that over 70 emperors have visited Taishan Mountain during different dynasties. In ancient times, the emperor's, upon ascending the throne would climb to the peak of Taishan Mountain and pray to heaven. Because of the imperial importance of the mountain, it was covered with temples, inscriptions, and stone tablets of the highest artistic achievement. Besides its beautiful temples, Taishan Mountain is famous for its natural beauty. The mountain has surprises around every turn and never fails to astound visitors.
Laoshan Mountain:
An extremely important mountain in China, Laoshan is known as the birth placed of Taoism. Located in Shandong Province, it is the highest coastal mountain in China with a height of 1132 meters. The mountain is home to a number of Taoist Temples and nunneries.
Putuoshan Mountain:
One of China's four famous Buddhist Mountains, Putuoshan Mountain is an island located in Zhejiang Province south-east of Shanghai. The mountain, being an important Buddhist mountain has a lot of temples and monasteries on it. It is also home to one of the largest Buddhist academic institutes in China.
Hengshan Mountain:
China has two famous mountains named Hengshan Mountain. The one located in Hunan Province is known as Southern Hengshan and is one of China's five sacred Taoist mountains. This Hengshan Mountain has 72 peaks and is known for have ancient Buddhist temples and monasteries.

Located in Shanxi Province, this Hengshan Mountain is known as the Northern Hengshan Mountain. It is one of China's five sacred Taoist mountains and has had temples and monasteries on it for over 2,000 years. The most famous site on Hengshan Mountain is the Hanging Monastery. It is a wooden temple which was built on the vertical cliff face.
Wuyishan Mountain:
Home to Da Hong Pao Tea, Wuyi Mountain is located on the northern border of Fujian Province. It was listed on UNESCO's World Heritage list for its natural biodiversity and cultural aspects. The mountain has become extremely popular with visitors because of its stunning beauty.
