Day 1Arrival/Kunming

You'll begin your journey to the diverse and captivating province of Yunnan from the capital city, Kunming. Upon arrival at the Kunming International Airport, your local guide will meet us. And then you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 2Kunming/Stone Forest/Kunming

Meals: B,L

Sightseeing: the Stone Forest, the Green Lake, the Flower and Bird Market.
Special Experience: Taste the typical Yunnan food named Bridge crossing Noodles.

You will drive 86 km to the Stone Forest. There is a local saying: 'It is a waste of time not to visit the Stone Forest while visiting Kunming', which vividly expresses the deep love of the local people toward this world wonder. The quintessential karst landscape makes every tourist lost in wonder.

After lunch drive back Kunming, you will take a leisurely stroll along the Green Lake, a charming area of teahouses and small boutiques selling handicrafts and beautiful local paintings. Late afternoon you will visit the Flower and Bird Market.

Day 3Kunming/Shangri-La

Sightseeing: the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, the Bita Lake & Shudu Lake and the Guishan Park.
Special Experience: Taste the butter oil and Tibetan food, Tibetan home-made. Flight Information: MU5933 07:00/08:00

In the morning, you'll visit the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan. And afterwards you'll go and visit the tranquil Bita Lake & Shudu Lake. After having finished touring the Bita Lake & Shudu Lake, you'll visit the Old Town of Shangri La and the Guishan Park.
Tibetan home made at night and have dinner in Tibetan family with butter oil tea and Tibetan food.

Day 4Shangri-La/Tiger Leaping Gorge/Lijiang

Sightseeing:the First Bend of the Yangtze River, Shigu Town, Tiger Leaping Gorge, Lijiang Old Town

From ShangriLa, you'll drive about 100KM to the Tiger Leaping Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world. With 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, it is called the Jinsha in this area because you can find gold in the river. Afternoon, you'll head for Shangri La, the former Zhongdian. Upon arrival in Shangri La, you will have entered the Tibetan cultural area and a landscape of barley fields and yaks scattered in the valleys.

After lunch continue the driving 50KM more to visit the First Bend on the Yangtze River with imposing gorge scenery, and the Iron Chain Bridge in the Stone Drum town. The town of Stone Drum got its name from a large, cylindrical, marble tablet shaped like a drum. The scenery is magnificent as the road running through the Lijiang valley which is filled with wheat fields and drying haystacks. Drive 60KM more to Lijiang. Explore Lijiang Old Town at night.

Day 5Lijiang

Meals: B

Sightseeing: Shuhe Old Town, Mu Emperor's Palace, Lion Hill, Baisha Village. Special Experience: Naxi Orchestral and Show in Dongba Palace in Lijiang Old Town.

In the morning You'll head for Shuhe Old Town, which is the relic of the Tea-Horse Trading Caravan from bank of Mekong River to India via Tibet. You are planning to walk from LongQuan(Drangon Spring) in Shuhe Old Town to Baisha Village, you will visit the the Naxi family and Baisha Mural in Baisha village. Lunch at "Just Here Restaurant" in Baisha Street.

After lunch drive back to Lijiang and visit the Wangu Pagoda on the top of the Lion Hill, here you will have a wonderful panoramic view of Lijiang Old Town. You will walk down from the Lion Hill to Mu Emperor's Palace which is the local chieftain's former residence. After dinner, you will attend the Naxi Orchestral and Show in Dongba Palace in the Lijiang Old Town.

Day 6Lijiang/Dali

Sightseeing: Shaping Market, Three Pagodas, Dali Old Town
After breakfast, travel (200 km - 4 hrs) south on the old road to the ancient city of Dali. If this day happens to fall on a Monday you will call in at Shaping for a visit to the colorful Bai market. Visit the Butterfly Fountain where hundreds of butterfly species in different sizes and colors flutter around.

After lunch, visit the honorable age-old Three Pagodas, symbolizing the outstanding architectural technology, the wisdom of the ancient laboring people and the brilliant culture of Dali. Enjoy some time in the restored city center.

Day 7Dali

Meals: B,L

Sightseeing: the Erhai Lake Cruise, Xizhou Town, Zhoucheng Village and Bai Tie-Dyed Cloth Work Shop.
Special Experience: Taste the Bai Three Course Tea with ethnic dance and music.

In the morning, you'll travel in the Erhai Lake by boat and visit Jinsuo Island. After landing, you will head for Xizhou Town to fully appreciate Bai-style architecture, taste their fragrant three-course tea and explore their distinctive culture.
At last, you will visit Zhoucheng Town, and Bai people's Tie-Dyed Cloth Work Shop. At night relax in Dali Old Town.

Day 8Dali/Tengchong

Sightseeing: Lancang-Mekong River, Baoshan City, Heshun Old Town
In the early morning you will drive about 6 hours to Tengchong via Baoshan City,visit Heshun Old Town in the late afternoon.

Boshan City is situated in the southwest of Yunnan Province, bordered by Burma in the south and northwest. Within the province, it neighbors Lincang Region in the east, Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in the northeast and Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture in the southwest. Baoshan is nearly 500 kilometers (310 miles) from Kunming.
You will stopover at the upper reach of Mekong River and some villages on the way to Tengchong. The scenery is very fantastic.

When you arrive in Tengchong, you will walk around Heshun Old Town; "Heshun"means peace and harmony. You could walk leisurely around the historical old town, built in earlier days by overseas Chinese as a location for their retirement. The remaining old town is a very beautiful place with many ornamental structures such as pavilions, memorial halls, archways, and balustrades, and also with lotus ponds and outlands with many birds. The library in this town is worth mentioning-set up in 1924, it possesses over 60,000 volumes of books, many of which are rare editions of ancient works.

Day 9Tengchong

Sightseeing: Heshun Old Town, the Cemetery of World War II, Dieshuihe Waterfall Park and Rehai hot spring Park.
Special Experience: Enjoy the natural hot spring about three hours in Rehai.

After breakfast drive 15 minutes to the south-youst and visit Heshun, a traditional walled in historical town. Heshun looks like out of an ancient Chinese picture book and is one of the most beautiful towns remaining in today's China. Walk into town along the cobble stoned alleys up to the square where a small market is held every day. Glance through some of the entrance gates into courtyards where residents trade their goods and wares.

Visit the Museum of Yunnan-Burmese Anti-Japanese War one of the most remarkable places of interest explaining the geopolitical importance of the Burma Road. Lunch at the Household Restaurant overlook the pond in Heshun. And then visit the Cemetery of World War II, Dieshuihe Waterfall Park and Rehai hot spring Park.

Day 10Tengchong/Mangshi/RuilI

Sightseeing: Mangshi City,the Tree-Wrapped-Pagoda and Wuyun Temple,Ruili Night Market

It takes about 5 hours to drive first from Heshun to Mangshi. Visit Dai Style Buddhist architecture, the Tree-Wrapped-Pagoda and Wuyun Temple. You then drive to Ruili, visiting the Mono-Tree Forest, Workers' Cultural Palace and thriving night market. Enter further the border area, where the region is getting richer on the trade. Road signs are multilingual in Chinese, Burmese, Dai as well as in English. Stop in little villages to visit the market activities and Buddhist temples. Explore the night market in Ruili.

Day 11Ruili/Mangshi-Kunming

Sightseeing: Jiegao Port, the China's border gate to Burma, Wangdin city. Flight Information: MU5972 19:00/19:55

You will visit Ruili Economic Development Zone including Jiegao, the China's border gate to Burma, the street between China and Burma. Visit Wangdin city with a strong feel of the merging of Burmese and Chinese life styles. Drive to Mangshi city; take evening flight back to Kunming.

Day 12Kunming/Departure

Send you to Kunming International Airport for returning. Service ends.

Transportation cost covers all the domestic airfare of economy class with airport tax, train tickets between the cities as the itinerary specified.

 

Transfer between airports, railway station, hotels and scenic spots for sightseeing around the cities that are specified by the itinerary with private air conditioned vehicle with driver and English-speaking guide. Separate arrivals and departures will incur extra charges.

Dinners as the itinerary specified will be also served in local Chinese restaurants. The meal quotation is normalized. If you have any special request about meals, like vegetarian, famous rare dishes, Indian food or more, please inform us in advance. For the unspecified dinners, you will have dinner on your own. Feel free to ask your local guide for suggestions or recommendation.

 

Private Sightseeing Escort:

Normal sightseeing activities as the itinerary listed will be escorted with English-speaking guide. The English-speaking guide and driver in each city are with you throughout the entire itinerary around that city. They do not fly with you from one city to another.

 

Hotel Accommodation:

Hotel service criterion: two adults share on one standard twin/double-bed room; solo traveler who want to occupy one twin/double-bed room assigned is required for extra single supplement rate. A single room is available on prior request at an additional cost; if a recommended hotel unavailable, it will be replaced by one of the same class. All hotels as the itinerary listed serve daily western or Chinese breakfast. All rooms are air-conditioned with private facilities unless specified.
