Day 1Beijing/Datong

Upon arrival in Datong, Our local guide will meet you at the train station and ecort you to check in the hotel for a rest.

Day 2Datong

Sites Visited: Nine-Dragon Wall Datong, Huayan Temple, Yungang Grottoes

After breakfast, we will drive to the west of the city for the amazing Yungang Grottoes. This Buddhist site is excellent examples of stone carving architecture, composed of 252 grottoes with more than 51,000 Buddha statues and statuettes.

In the afternoon, we drive back to Datong city downtown to see the Nine Dragon Wall and Huayan Temple. The Nine Dragon Wall is a screen wall with night lifestyle dragons made by glazed tiles. It was built in Ming dynasty and it is much bigger than that in Beijing Park Beijing. Huayan Temple is largest and best preserved monastery of the Liao Dynasty in existence in China; the temple was originally built as ancestral temple of the imperial family, offering sacrifices for emperors of the Liao Dynasty.


Nine-Dragon Wall Datong

Day 3Datong/Mt.Wutai

Sites Visited: Mountain Hengshan, Hanging Monastery

After Breakfast, we will take a morning drive () to the Hanging Monastery, which is located at the foot of Mt.Heng. The temple is an amazing site, constructed over 1,500 years ago and was enchased in the cliff of the mountain. The whole temple is about 50 meters above the ground, and supported by about 40 pillars which stay firmly in the past 1,500 years.

After a vsit to hanging Monastery, we will proceed to Yingxian Wooden Pagoda which is the oldest and tallest wooden pagoda in China. It has escaped from many natural disasters and maintain in original condition after 1056, the year of being built.

At last, you will drive about 2.5 hours to Mountain Wutai and stay overnight at Wutai Mountain.


Mountain Hengshan

Day 4Mt.Wutai/Taiyuan

Sites Visited: Mountain Wutai

Today we will view the landscape of Wutainshan mountain and visit temples inside, which is the famous Buddhist Mountain in China. Since there are many temples in the area, we recommend you visit to Pusa Ding, Xiantong Temple or Ten Thousand Pavilion.

Drive about 3 hours to Taiyuan and stay overnight at Taiyuan.


Mountain Wutai

Day 5Taiyuan/Pingyao

Sites Visited: Jinci Temple, Qiao Mansion

After breakfast, we drive to ancient royal garden Jinci Temple, which is famous for the frescoes. Continue to Qiao Family Compound – the typical residence of rich Jin Businessman, which is built in in 1756 in the Qing Dynasty. The Qiao Compound gained its renown not only for its large scale but also for the exquisite craftsmanship reflected in the brick carving, woodcarving and murals.

Proceed to Pingyao Ancient City from Qiao Family Compound and have free time in the old down.


Jinci Temple

Day 6Pingyao

Sites Visited: Shuanglin Temple, Ming Qing Street, Pingyao Ancient City Wall

After breakfast, you will start a full day Pingyao tour to visit Shuanglin Temple outside old town Pingyao and admire the beautiful colorful figures inside the temple. Drive back to Pingyao and have walk on the Ancient City Wall, the Rishengchang Exchange Shop and the Ming and Qing Street.

Day 7Pingyao/Taiyuan Departure

Meals: B

Afer breakfast, you will take a morning relax until a transfer to at the Taiyuan Airport for the flight to next destination.

Transportation cost covers all the domestic airfare of economy class with airport tax, train tickets between the cities as the itinerary specified.

Dinners as the itinerary specified will be also served in local Chinese restaurants. The meal quotation is normalized. If you have any special request about meals, like vegetarian, famous rare dishes, Indian food or more, please inform us in advance. For the unspecified dinners, you will have dinner on your own. Feel free to ask your local guide for suggestions or recommendation.

 

Private Sightseeing Escort:

Normal sightseeing activities as the itinerary listed will be escorted with English-speaking guide. The English-speaking guide and driver in each city are with you throughout the entire itinerary around that city. They do not fly with you from one city to another.

 

Hotel Accommodation:

Hotel service criterion: two adults share on one standard twin/double-bed room; solo traveler who want to occupy one twin/double-bed room assigned is required for extra single supplement rate. A single room is available on prior request at an additional cost; if a recommended hotel unavailable, it will be replaced by one of the same class. All hotels as the itinerary listed serve daily western or Chinese breakfast. All rooms are air-conditioned with private facilities unless specified.
