Qianmen Shopping Street:
Located near Tiananmen Square, Qianmen Street has been a famous shopping street for more than 600 years. Many of China’s most famous and oldest Chinese stores began their lives on this street. Qianmen Street has recently been restored to its Qing Dynasty appearance. The street is home to art supply shops, art shops, fan shops, handicraft shops, and much more. Many of the shops sell the finest merchandise available and are an incredible place to not only window shop, but bring home some truly exquisite reminders of your visit in China.
Wangfujing Street:
One of the most famous shopping streets in China, Wangfujing Street is extremely popular with visitors and locals alike. It is Beijing’s hippest shopping area and is lined with shopping malls and name brand shops. It is a great place to people watch. Many small little booths are located on the street for visitors to sit and sip drinks while shopping. Name brand fashions, jewelry, books, tea, and more can be found on this exciting street.
Wangfujing Snack Street:
Located off Wangfujing Shopping Street, the snack street offers snacks from across China. The cafes are quite popular and a great place to relax and people watch. Some of the items available at the booths are not for the feint of heart, but most of the items are truly delicious and a wonderful way to taste foods from all over China.
Xiushui Market (Silk Street):
More commonly referred to as Silk Street, Xiushui Street is an extremely popular shopping street with visitors to Beijing. A new five story building was recently built to replace the old market. The building is five stories tall and has three basement levels. In the market, clothing, silk products, and souvenirs can be found. Be prepared to bargain.
Maliandao Tea Street:
For lovers of Chinese tea, the Maliandao Tea Street is an absolute highlight. It is the largest tea market in Beijing, Maliandao Tea Street offers some of the best teas and tea ware from across China. Visitors are invited to sit in the shops and sample teas. It is a wonderful way to relax, chat, and familiarize yourself more with Chinese Teas.
Dashilan Street:
Many of China’s oldest and most famous Chinese brands can be found on Dashilan Street. Famous for its ancient architecture, many of the shops have been here since the Qing Dynasty.
Panjiayuan Antique Market:
A favorite stop in Beijing with visitors and locals, the Panjiayuan Antique Market was founded in 1992. It is home to many ancient, and not so ancient artifacts. It is a wonderful place to shop for paintings, jewelry, jade, handicrafts, and books.
