Ming Qing Street
Pingyao’s Ming Qins Street was the busiest shopping street in Pingyao. The street is lined with ancient shops, including some historically important ones. In the flagstone street, lines can be seen worn into the stone by centuries of carriages. A number of the ancient shops have been rebuilt as museums or restaurants. In the street is the Golden Well Building, the center-point of commerce in ancient Pingyao. The building is a tall pavilion which has a well, that it is said the water resembles the color of gold. Many local foods and snacks are available on the Ming Qing Street for visitors. Strolling down the street, sampling the snacks and visiting the shops gives visitors a feeling of what life has been like for centuries in Pingyao.
