Gezhou Dam
Yichang City in Central China's Hubei Province boasts China's largest completed key water control project - the Gezhou Dam. Located at the mouth of the famous Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, the Gezhou Dam has a total length of 2,561 meters, making it one of the longest dams in the world.
The Gezhou Dam comprises a 27-outlet sluice gate, 2 hydro power stations, 3 ship locks and 2 scouring sluices. It has the functions of flood discharge and waterlogging prevention as well as hydraulic power generation. When crossing the Gezhou Dam by boarding a giant ship, you yourself may experience the wonder created by man with their wisdom and will be delighted to see that in very short time, the giant ship is raised several dozen meters high through the water level readjustment equipment of the dam and with the rise of water level, the giant ship can sail from lower level water into higher level water of the Yangtze River.
