Lesser Three Gorges
The Lesser Three Gorges is a favorite excursion on Yangtze River Cruises. Located on the Daning River, right off of the Three Gorges' Wu Gorge, the Daning River is the largest branch of the Yangtze River. The lesser three gorges are; Dragon Gate Gorge, Misty Gorge, and Emerald Gorge. Their beauty rivals that of the Three Gorges.
Dragon Gate Gorge
The Dragon Gate Gorge is the first of the Lesser Three Gorges. Over 3,000 yards long, the opening to the gorge have virtually vertical cliffs which act as a gate to the gorges.
Misty Gorge
Six miles long, the Misty Gorge is often called the Iron Coffin Gorge because there is an ancient suspended coffin high on the cliff face which appears to be made of iron from a distance.
Emerald Gorge
Named after the local fauna that line the gorge, the Emerald Gorge is the longest of the gorges with a length of 12 miles.
