Jidao Miao Village

Jidao Miao village is located in the mountainous area of Guizhou, about 25 kilometers away from Kaili city. The village is set idyllic surroundings and populated by ethinic Miao people. Jidao Village’s people are known as the Long Skirt Miao as its women wear traditional long skirts.
Jidao Miao Village consists of two villages: Shangzhai (Upper Village) and Xiazhai (Lower Village). Shangzhai is set in idyllic surroundings. About 500 people live in each. There are about 170 families, and there are many old traditional wooden houses. People can visit at any time, but the best time to come is in warm months between March and October, when the traditional festivals comes and people may dance and entertain visitors.
There are many traditional wooden stilt houses reserved in the village, of old but well-designed looking. Miao people set them in several levels, the animals live in the first level and their owners live in the upper levels.
Jidao village remains original, remote and tranquil; miao people are very hospitable and guests are usually served several cup of home-made wine when arrival at the village. And they also offer their guests very wonderful show in their halls or the village dancing square.
