Jinci Temple
Jinci Temple is located 25 kilometers to the southeast of downtown Taiyuan City, at the foot of Mount Xuanweng. Jinci temple has a long history, and can be traced back to western zhou dynasty (11th century BC to 711 BC)The temple was built in honor of Tang Shuyu, the king of Jin State. Tang Shuyu is intelligent leader who devoted all his energies to making the state prosperous, so his descendants built a temple for him after his death, in order to honor his achievement.
The temple itself is a combination of historical cultural relics and beautiful landscape. The buildings of the temple are distributed along the central axis from east to west; they are in strict structures of a temple but there's an imperial garden included. And the well preserved sculptures are rare to find in China.
Sait Mother Hall is the oldest and famous building inside. . Together with the Flying Bridge across the Fish Pond, and the Offerings Hall, these exquisite buildings provide evidence of a new era in Chinese architecture. For example, the Flying Bridge across the Fish Pond is the only one of its kind that exists now; accordingly, it plays an important role in an investigation of the ancient bridges of China.
There are other three wonders inside the temple, namely The Figures of The Maidservants, the Zhou Cypress and the Never Aging Spring. There’s an imperial garden inside the temple that also worth a visit.
