Wangcheng Park
Wangcheng Park was built on the original site of ancient Zhou city, located in the Zhongzhou Road, city center of Luoyang. It is the biggest comprehensive park in Luoyang, covering an area of 67 hectares. There are five scenic areas in Wangcheng Park, the History and Culture area, the Peony Admiring Area, the Peony Culture Area, the Zoo and Amusement Area.
Luoyang Peony enjoys the honor of King of the Flower Kingdom with various varieties and colors; also the national flower of China. The best travel time to the park is in April when peony is on blossom. There are over 200 species of planted peonies with total number over 10,000 plants on the Luoyang Peony Festival (Apr 15-25) in the park. And it is a majestic display of natural beauty when thousands of flowers in red, red, white, black, yellow, purple, pink, blue, green in blossom. The Peony Culture Area is a long walk way that presenting poems from many of China's literary giants and artwork from famous calligraphers and painters
The History of Culture Area is located in the west part of the Park, where tourists can enjoy and admire the long history of China by watching the ancient halls and other attractions like Jishengzhu Tablets, Shenyuantai Hall, Jicheng Hall, Zhou Memorial Pavilion and Mingdemen Gate and so on. Among them, the Hetu & Luoshu Tablet (two special diagrams depicted on the tablet) is the must-see things.
In the Wangcheng Zoo, there are some rare species like pandas, south China tigers, leopards and red cranes; while the amusement area are more welcomed for family visitors or young travelers.
