Tsing Ma Bridge

Tsing Ma Bridge Hong Kong, linking the Tsing Yi and Ma Wun Island, over the Ma Wun Channel, is the longest span suspension bridge that carrying both road and rail traffic in the world. It is the important bridge that connects Hong Kong Island, international airport and urban districts of Hong Kong.

The construction of Tsing Ma Bridge began in year 1992 and completed in 1997, with a total length of 2160 meters and main span length at 1, 377 meters. The towers supporting the bridge are 206 meters high with a clearance of 62 meters. Approximately 49,000 tones of structural steel were used in the construction of the bridge, which cost HK$7.14 billion to build.

The Tsing Ma Bridge carries six-lane open roadway with two railway lines and a two-lane road enclosed beneath. It is regarded as one of the top 10 construction projects in last century and rivaling the Golden Gate Bridge, French Channel Tunnel and so on.

There is not walking path for pedestrian and the Tsing Yi Trunkroute Viewing Terrace, located northeastern of the Tsing Yi Island, provides panoramic view of the magnificent Tsing Ma Bridge, where visitors can take photographs. To ride on the bridge by taking a car or a taxi is also popular way to stay close with the bridge.
