Jiankou Great Wall
There are several famous parts of the Jiankou Section, which make this section very popular with the few visitors who brave it. The Nine-eye Tower was an important command post in the ancient past. It has three levels and nine openings on each side, which look like nine eyes. Another famous section is the Beijing Knot. It is where three sections of The Great Wall meet up. There is a very precipitous section, known as The Sky Stair, which has an angle of 70 -80 degrees and leads to a watch tower named The Eagle Flies Facing Upward. According to legend, the tower is so high that eagles have to fly facing straight up to reach the top of it. The tower is the perfect place to enjoy the sunrise or sunset.
One of the most photographed sections of The Great Wall, the Jiankou Section has become a photographic hotspot in recent years. The name “Jiankou” translates as “Arrow Nock: because of the shape of the mountain. Due to its lack of repair, this section is regarded as one of the most dangerous sections of The Great Wall. It is located near Xizhazi Village 30 kilometers (19 miles) from Beijing and connects to the Mutianyu Section in the East and the Huanghuacheng Section in the West. This section is 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) long and follows a very winding path.
