Xitang Village
Xitang Village is one of China’s water-towns. The town is lined with crisscrossed with canals and has 104 ancient bridges from the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) Dynasties. Lining the village’s canals are cobblestone street and ancient buildings with grey tiled roofs. It is a very picturesque village where life has not changed much in the past several hundred years. Visitors can see locals washing their vegetables and clothing in the canals in the morning and see people living life as they always have. The houses date back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties and are architectural works of art. Simple, yet with an elegance that just begs to be explored further.
